Magic in Miami
I don’t even know what to write about this week. I have so many thoughts running through my mind in this moment that it’s kind of emotionally overwhelming.
This past week was my first time in a big city; THE one and only city of Miami.
I was blessed with the opportunity given to me by my professional organization to come to a conference in a city full of life, full of food, full of culture; full of anything and everything you could possibly think of. Being in the midst of such chaos, if you are not accustomed to it, can be slightly overwhelming; but when you take two steps back, jump on a fast bike, and look up at the sky as you roll under the high rise buildings with your hair flying in the wind, nothing could be more beautiful and thrilling.
If I really reflect on my three-and-a-half day journey in a city filled with palm trees and spring-breakers, I can attest from personal experience that life is full of mystery, adventure, and lessons to be learned.
You can learn that some of the moments where you feel most alive are possibly the same one where there is someone looking at you and shaking their head.
You can learn that you may have just walked into a room with quite possibly some of the smartest and most passionate researchers you have ever met.
You can learn that in the midst of loneliness and tears, some of life's greatest teachings can be learned through experience.
A great big city can teach you lots of things.
And if you happen to be lucky, a great big city can also gift you with beautiful moments of magic.
Here I sit on my last night in Miami, just wishing I could stare at the city's night skyline forever.
Just slightly homesick due to unforeseen circumstances, my heart still aches knowing I must get up and leave this breathtaking scene and all the memories I created while I was here.
Every place I go steals a small piece of my heart.
Every moment I fall in love with, I replay in my head and even tell myself in the form of a story.
Because truly, I don't want the magic to just become a memory; I want it to last forever.

And I guess that is one of the saddest parts of life; no matter how wonderful the memory, it will never be as beautiful as when it was lived in the present.
