Quotability
Well, if you don't follow me on instagram or pinterest, which odds are you don't, then you are probably unaware of the newly-formed obsession I have with quotes.
Stemming off this new obsession, I recently purchased two poetry books and have started 'following' some poets on instagram.
I have even added more poetry books to my shopping cart on amazon.
What's with your new fascination of quotes and poetry?
If you know me really at all in any way, you know that writing is a passion of mine. I blog, but to be honest, the desires that lay deep within my soul are that of fiction-writing. While most kids dreamed of being an astronaut or a veterinarian, I dreamed of being an author.
I still have this dream; and it sucks to say that life just gets in the way and this dream of mine has just taken the back-burner to other priorities.
But that is another topic for another time, maybe.
Being a creative monster comes with repercussions.
Sometimes feelings and emotions don't always cross over into words; sometimes I am unable to find the words to describe what my soul is feeling in that moment. Sometimes my thoughts just seem so lost, and reading what someone has already written down makes things connect; help make things make more sense.
Sometimes knowing that someone else out 'there' feels the same way you do as expressed through poetry, quotability, or some other medium of writing words makes the loneliness, negativity, and other forms of negative-feeling feelings dissolve at least for a little while.
People have told me that I have a special way of sticking words down in such a way that makes writing look like an art.
And yet, even I am at a loss for words, probably more frequently than my writer-self would like to admit.
Sometimes I need help from other people.
Sometimes I can't make sense of what is going through my head, and scrolling through pinterest quotes and atticus poetry can put words to the particular attitude of my soul in that moment.
Quotability is important.
Poetry is beautiful.
Putting feelings and deep truths into a few words or sentences takes skill; when these words resonate with someone, now that is art.
