Comfort Zones & Stepping Stones
Frustration: something that has become inseparably linked to my everyday life, or at least that is what it feels like.
It is an everlasting battle between feeling increasingly ignorant, sleeping all the time {#NSP - night shift problems}, and trying to better myself while ignoring crude comments that only increase my frustration at myself.
But comfort zones never harbored change, never created strength, and never discovered purpose.
Ever had an idea, something new for yourself to do, and as soon as you think of it, another voice inside you discourages you, tells you to stay within your comfort zone because there everything is always easier.
It is easier to stay at home and read when the idea of social interactions make you slightly nervous.
It is easier to stay uninvolved when you know nobody, when you are your only accountability partner.
It is easier to go through the motions and do the bare minimum.
Well, it may be easier for your anxiety levels, but in the end, staying in your comfort zone is only hurting yourself.
So many times I allow how I view myself to determine what God can do through me; I'm much like Moses {Exodus 4:1-4}. Just like most of us life-journeyers, Moses allowed his view on himself to dictate what he believed God could do through him.
What makes me important enough?
How can I ever measure up?
I am not enough for the vision I believe Christ has called me to be.
Lies.
However, I am just like the rest; I believe these lies that The Opposition has placed in my thoughts, what makes me important enough, special enough, to do any of the things I have been called to do?
Yet, it is only if we take a step - if we leave the comfort of our souls - that we can outstretch our hand to God and he can take whatever we have and turn it into change, into bounty, into something purposeful.
The lust for comfort murders the passions of the soul.
These lies that The Oppositions implants in our minds is the encouragement of staying within our comfort zones.
For he is also aware that within comfort nothing ever truly amazing ever happened.
It is when we become vulnerable and step away from the boundaries that we have created that we enter a place where truly beautiful things can happen.
It is outside of our comfort zone where we can experience the comfort of Christ and the purpose of our souls.
What ordinaries do you have in your hands that God wants to use for extraordinaire?
What next step will take you out of your comfort zone into change, strength, wisdom, purpose?
